Cladding Cleaning in Saffron Walden
External cladding — whether render, timber weatherboarding or UPVC — is constantly exposed to the elements and quickly develops green algae, black mould, moss and general soiling. Left untreated this is not just unsightly; biological growth can accelerate surface degradation and trap moisture. We soft-wash cladding with appropriate treatments to remove growth and restore a clean finish without high-pressure damage.
What's involved
How we approach Cladding work
External cladding is one of the most visible parts of a building's exterior, and one of the most prone to biological soiling. Render, timber weatherboarding and UPVC panels all develop green algae, black mould, moss and general grime within a few years of installation — faster on north-facing elevations or under tree cover.
We soft-wash cladding using appropriate cleaning solutions applied at low pressure. Soft washing is the correct method for cladding — high-pressure washing can force water behind boards, crack render or damage UPVC seals. The cleaning solution kills biological growth at the root rather than simply blasting the surface, which slows regrowth significantly.
The correct method varies by cladding type. Render, timber and UPVC each respond differently to pressure, temperature and cleaning agents. We assess the surface before starting and use the appropriate approach for your specific cladding.

Common questions about Cladding
How often should windows be cleaned?
For most homes, every 4–8 weeks keeps windows looking their best and prevents the build-up of algae and mineral deposits that become harder to shift over time. We offer 4-weekly, 6-weekly and 8-weekly regular schedules, or a one-off clean if that suits you better.
How do you clean the windows?
We clean the traditional way — applicator and squeegee with warm soapy water, finishing glass, frames and sills by hand for a crisp, streak-free result. For upper-floor and hard-to-reach windows we use a pure-water pole that lets us clean up to four storeys safely from the ground.
